  • Our strategy

On 31 December 2010, we directly employed 1,106 people. Through their consistent ambition and dedication, our employees make Sonae Sierra's success. It is in our interest to retain our staff and ensure that they are provided with the working conditions, level of flexibility and training that they need to perform their duties to the best of their ability and actively contribute to creating and developing new business ideas. It is also important for us to promote a positive working environment where our employees are assured that they are treated fairly and that their efforts are valued.

    Medium-Term Objectives

Offer our employees more flexible working arrangements with the aim of becoming a recognised leader in this area, by 2012.
Adopt and implement a strategy, with the aim of creating the best possible working conditions for all our staff, by 2014.
Improve workforce ergonomic conditions based on approved standards by the end of 2012.
Encourage our employees to develop their skills and expertise and foster innovation. We will do this by offering high potential people the opportunity to participate in challenging projects within the company and by promoting other talent management programmes, including training.

    Targets for 2011

Implement all approved flexible work arrangement policies and monitor the uptake of those policies among Sonae Sierra staff.
Maintain the total number of training hours per employee (in comparison with 2010 levels) and seek to identify a benchmark for good practice in employee training hours that Sonae Sierra should aim to meet on an annual basis.
