Our strategy
Our Communities and Visitors Strategy includes a variety of measures to ensure that our activities provide socio-economic benefits to surrounding communities without compromising the quality of their local environment. This requires active engagement with local community representatives throughout the property lifecycle, and to this end we use Community Advisory Panels (CAPs) and community surveys to understand and respond to local requirements and concerns. We also monitor visitor satisfaction and feedback to ensure that our shopping centres continue to offer consumers an enjoyable retail experience by meeting their expectations on the tenant mix and facilities available at each centre. |
Medium-Term Objectives
Achieve full implementation of the Community Advisory Panels (CAPs) across the whole Sonae Sierra operational and development portfolio, by 2014.
Devise and implement a long term strategy aimed at involving the largest number of Sonae Sierra shopping centres' local communities' members, in order to improve communities' well-being, by 2012.
Enhance visitors´ recognition of Sonae Sierra's shopping centres' sustainability performance.
Target for 2011
Invest a proportion of the total marketing budget of every Sonae Sierra owned shopping centre and project under development in community-related initiatives (at least 3% for sites in Europe and at least 1% for sites in Brazil).
Maintain overall Sonae Sierra Employee community involvement, through the organisation of a Community Day.
